PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst converter for exhaust emission control excellent in assembling a catalyst holding body to a metal shell while taking into consideration of influence on environment, and a manufacturing method for it. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method for a catalyst converter for exhaust emission control consists of a process to wind a holding seal material 1 of an inorganic fiber mat around the periphery of a catalyst holding body 3, a process to obtain a wound body 6 by winding an inorganic long fiber 10 around the periphery of the holding seal material 1 and to keep the thickness of the holding seal material 1 within a range of -2 mm - +5 mm relative to the designated clearance C between the metal shell 2 and the catalyst holding body 3 by adjusting the extent of winding of the inorganic long fiber 10, and a process to insert or press the wound body 6 in the metal shell 2. |
