PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of operating in a ship to return a vapor of a natural gas to a liquid. SOLUTION: An apparatus used in a ship to return a compressed vapor to the liquid adopts a preassembly of constituting elements. A working fluid is compressed in at least one compressor 22, 24 or 26, cooled in a first heat exchanger 40, expanded in a turbine 28, and heated in a second heat exchanger 46. The compressed vapor in the second heat exchanger is reliquefied in a closed cycle for at least partly condensing the compressed vapor in the second heat exchanger. This apparatus comprises a first preassembly 72 having the exchanger 40, a second preassembly 82 having the exchanger 46, the compressors 22, 24, 26 and the expansion turbine 28.
