PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter equipped with columnar projecting parts for setting the thickness of a liquid crystal layer and capable of manufacturing a color liquid crystal display device with excellent display quality and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The color filter is equipped with the columnar projecting parts formed integrated with a black matrix in plural parts where no coloring layer is formed inside a region where the black matrix is formed. The color filter is manufactured so that after forming a pattern for the black matrix containing an electroless plating catalyst on a substrate, the black matrix is formed by bringing the pattern into contact with an electroless plating liquid in the first step, a photosensitive layer is formed by coating the substrate with a coloring photosensitive resin composition so as to coat the black matrix and by repeating an operation of exposing and developing the photosensitive layer via a desired photomask several times corresponding to the desired number of colors so as to form a coloring layer consisting of mutually adjacent coloring patterns of plural colors in the second step, and the columnar projecting parts are integrally formed with the black matrix by bringing the substrate into contact with the electroless plating liquid in the plural parts where no coloring layer is formed inside a region where the black matrix is formed in the third step. |
