PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity and low fog, excellent in preservability in the undeveloped state and excellent also in the preservability of a silver image after development. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material with a photosensitive layer containing at least an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide and a solvent, the organic silver salt is flat platy organic silver salt grains each having an aspect ratio of >=3, the mean value of the acicularity ratios of the tabular organic silver salt grains measured from the principal plane direction is 1.1 to <10.0 and the photosensitive silver halide has been chemically sensitized.
