LIGHT GENERATION METHOD AND LIGHT SOURCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate multiwavelength light of a wide band and of equal frequency intervals. SOLUTION: The repetition frequencies of the pulse light outputted from pulse lasers 1 and 2 are match with each other, and the oscillation frequency difference between the pulse lasers 1 and 2 is specified to the value obtained by dividing the repetition frequencies by an arbitrary positive number of 2 or larger. The pulse light outputted from the pulse lasers 1 and 2 is multiplexed in an optical multiplexer 3, is amplified in an optical amplifier 4 and is then inputted to a nonlinear optical medium 5. The nonlinear optical medium 5 outputs the multiwavelength light of a wide band, equal in the light frequencies different from the mode intervals of the pulse lasers 1 and 2 by its nonlinear optical effect.
