SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TESTING COMPRESSED DIGITAL BROADCAST VIDEO DURING OPERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for testing broadcast video signals that are analog/digital converted or digital/analog converted during operation. SOLUTION: An MPEG-2 encoder/decoder applies analog/digital conversion or digital/analog conversion and compression to a video frame received via a network. Each gateway includes a test pattern generator and a test memory analyzer that are used for an in-operation test of the video signal. The test pattern generator dynamically arranges a test signal to a line selected in advance for a VBI period in the video frame at a period of the frame by adopting a concealment technology. The test pattern generator and the test memory analyzer are synchronized by using a vertical integral time code and a trigger packet sent from a transmission station.
