PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a low cycle fatigue and thermal creep within a combustor liner and to extend a life cycle for the combustor by decreasing a heat absorption of the combustor liner and by operating the combustor (30) at high temperatures. SOLUTION: The combustor (40) has a stepped combustor liner surface (70) constituting a combustion zone (36) and an overhang portion (74) forming an air cooling slot (78). A layer (90) of thermal barrier material is applied to the combustor liner such that at least one portion (96) of the combustor liner receives a layer of thermal barrier material with a thickness (T1) greater than 0.01 inch. |
