PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery, having a capacity higher than that of a spinel-structure lithium-manganese complex oxide and more cycle durability at a high temperature than a layered lithium-manganese complex oxide. SOLUTION: The positive electrode active material for the nonaqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery comprises a lithium-containing manganese layered complex oxide, which is represented by the chemical formula, Li1-xMnO2-y-δFy where part of Li in a complex oxide represented by the general formula, LiMO2, is lost, and part of oxygen is substituted with fluorine (F), with the loss x of lithium being a rational number, 0<x<1, and so controlled that the loss δof oxygen is δ<=0.2, and a part of oxygen is substituted by F. |
