PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, in which leakage of light in the light-shielding region (so-called 'picture frame part') outside of the display part of the device is suppressed, the contrast ratio is increased and good display characteristics are obtained, and to provide a method of manufacturing the device. SOLUTION: A TFT substrate has a drive line formed in the frame part on a first planar member and connected to a TFT, an insulating film on the drive line, a conductive film consisting of the same material as the pixel electrode on the insulating film, and a perpendicular alignment layer formed on the conductive film. A CF substrate has a light-shielding film formed in the frame part on a second planar member. |
