PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high-speed high-accuracy positioning of a magnetic head by subjecting a micro-drive actuator of a piggy bag actuator having a main drive actuator and the micro-drive actuator to high-band controlled driving and to realize a high-recording density magnetic disk. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device has a magnetic disk 1 to which information data is recorded, a composite type head section 2 which consists of an inductive head for recording the data on the magnetic disk and a magneto- resistive head for reproducing the data, a slider 3 which is mounted with the head section and is driven by an auxiliary drive means and a magnetic head supporting mechanism section 4 which supports the slider, faces the magnetic disk described above and is driven by a main drive means 5-1. The position signal of the head is formed in accordance with the reproduced servo information and the auxiliary drive means 5-2 is so controlled as to approach a target position.
