PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where the main scene of a movie is not always reproduced since a scenario is reproduced for a prescribed period at prescribed intervals in the conventional case, when the outline of the content of the movie recorded in a DVD video is desired. SOLUTION: VOBU reproduction time is acquired from an NV pack, where the management data of respective VOBU of DVD data are recorded into a VOBU reproduction time acquireming part 20. Main video size data are acquired into an NV pack caption size data acquiring part 23. Caption size data are acquired into an SP pack caption size data acquiring part 23 from an SP pack where the auxiliary video data of respective VOBU are recorded. A mode change-over switch 24 changes over a movement respecting mode and a caption respecting mode, a video data density operation part 25 obtains the ratio of VOBU to sizes, and a scenario reproduction VOBU selection part 26 selects data by the reproduction time of prescribed time in the order of decreasing data density and they reproduced in a data recording order.
