PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity and excellent in graininess. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic sensitive material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer on the support and containing flat platy silver halide grains which occupy >=50% of the total projected area of all silver halide grains and have an average aspect ratio of 8-100 and >=10 dislocation lines per one grain in the peripheral regions in at least one layer, at least one DIR compound of the formula Cp-Z-(L-Y)n is contained in the at least one silver halide emulsion layer.
