PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone device which can select the sound recording of a message from a caller without interrupting sound signal reproduction when a call is received. SOLUTION: An incoming detection part 12 when confirming a call incoming from outside sends the incoming call to a speech function part 13. The speech function part 13 when receiving the incoming call checks whether or not sound signal reproduction is in process and sends a signal indicating the start of automatic answering sound recording to an automatic answering sound recording function part 19 on condition that the sound signal reproduction is in process. Thus, the sound recording of a message from a caller can be selected without interrupting the sound signal reproduction when there is an incoming call.
