摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily maintain the ignition performance of fuel mixture in the combustion chamber of an engine and rapidly propagate a flame through the fuel mixture in the entire combustion chamber. SOLUTION: The air 16 sucked into a combustion chamber 14 through an intake path 17 is formed so as to be a swirl 44 moving in one direction around the axis 3 of a cylinder hole 4. A recessed part formed in a piston 10 is formed generally into a circular shape, and disposed at the upper front part of the piston 10. A fuel injection port 35 allows a fuel 34 to be injected from the upper front side of the combustion chamber 14 to the recessed part 13 and a discharge part 39 is positioned at the rear end part of the recessed part 13. One bottom surface portion 48a of the bottom surface 48 of the recessed part 13 forming the swirl 44 in the downstream of the fuel injection port 35 is formed deeper than the other bottom surface portion 48b forming the swirl 44 in the upstream of the fuel injection port 35.
