The safety device for the picker of a maize harvester comprises drive mountings (12) for the picking rollers (10), one of which contains a couple limiter positioned between the drive shaft (13) and the double-ended conical pinion (20) which cooperates with pinions ( 21) mounted on the top ends of the rollers.
