PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conjugate staple fiber which has good biodegradability, excellent mechanical strengths, excellent dimensional stability, and rich flexibility, and is suitable for obtaining a nonwoven fabric having thermally adhesive property. SOLUTION: This biodegradable conjugate staple fiber whose core portion comprises a high melting point biodegradable thermoplastic polymer component and whose sheath portion comprises a low melting point biodegradable thermoplastic polymer component.
