<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and a communicating method which can select whether to perform transmission and reception in real time or to perform transmission and reception in the form of electronic mail in accordance with not only the desire of a user but also the use situation of a computer network and the type of the terminal of the opposite party in the case of transmitting and receiving facsimile data by using the network. SOLUTION: In the case the Internet FAX repeater 10 transmits facsimile data by using the computer network, whether to transmit the facsimile data in real time or to transmit the data in the form of electronic-mail is first decided by using a user interface 104. The facsimile data are converted into an electronic-mail format and subsequently transmitted from a FAX data transmitting and receiving part 103 by using a real time transmission and reception controlling part 107 in the transmitting of the data in real time, and by using an electronic-mail format converting and controlling part 106 in the case of transmitting and receiving the data in the form of electronic-mail.</p> |
