PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an application of a deflection yoke to a color picture tube, as well as striking a balance between a power saving and a high resolution of a screen of a color picture tube device. SOLUTION: In the color picture tube, a front panel 5 and a funnel 2 configure an envelope, and an electron gun is placed in a neck portion 1 of the funnel 2. The outer diameter of the neck portion 1 in a rear end side region is larger in an outside diameter of a horizontal direction than in an outside diameter of a vertical direction, and the one in the front panel 5 side region, it is smaller in the horizontal direction than the one in the horizontal direction in the rear end side region. The main lens of the electron gun is formed in the rear end side region.
