PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave oven capable of heating the food in a heating chamber appropriately. SOLUTION: A bottom plate 9 of the microwave oven constitutes a bottom surface of the heating chamber 10. Microwave oscillated from a magnetron 12 is supplied widely in the heating chamber 10 through a rotating antenna 15. At the microwave oven, for the food in the heating chamber 10, the condition of being heated varies depending on the stopped position of rotation of the rotating antenna 15 or the location where the food is placed on the bottom plate 9. The location where the food is placed on the bottom plate 9, is determined by the detecting output of an infrared sensor 7. When the magnetron 12 oscillates microwave, the rotating antenna 15 rotates to the rotating position where the food is heated most efficiently, and stops at the pre-determined location where the food is located.
