PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reverse insertion of a disk in a disk reproducing device 10 to be quickly known. SOLUTION: An unexamined disk is carried to a main traverse unit 17 or a sub traverse unit 18 from a disk housing part 20 to examine whether focusing is feasible or infeasible by utilizing a period when the main traverse unit 17 and the sub traverse unit 18 do not reproduce the disk. When the focusing is infeasible, the disk is judged to be reversely inserted.
