PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core chuck nose in which a surface hardened layer having a consistent hardness distribution is formed, defects such as chipping, peeling and dimensional change are conquered, the service life is long, and the operational stability is excellent. SOLUTION: In a first embodiment, the core chuck nose is formed of a base material containing chromium, or the base material which is surface-treated with chromium, and has a nitrided layer on the surface of, or from the surface to the inside of the base metal. In a second embodiment, the core chuck nose is formed of a base material containing chromium, or the base material which is surface-treated with chromium, and has a nitrided layer on the surface of, or from the surface to the inside of the base metal, and a vapor deposition covered layer is provided on the nitrided layer.
