PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for coating materials having excellent finish external appearance, water resistance, recoating properties, and weatherability, and a multi-layer coating film using the same. SOLUTION: This resin compositions comprise (C) a nonaqueous dispersion type polymer containing (A) an organic solvent-soluble copolymer having a polymerization average molecular weight of 10,000-200,000 and a glass transition temperature of -20 to 40 deg.C to be obtained by copolymerizing a polymerizable monomer having an unsaturated double bond and (B) organic solvent-insoluble copolymer particles in the copolymer (A) to be obtained by copolymerizing a polymerizable monomer having an unsaturated double bond in the presence of an organic solvent at a compounding ratio of component (B) of 30-70 wt.% based on the total weight of solids content of component (A) and component (B), and the multi-layer coating film uses this coating material composition.
