PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate such costly and time-consuming inconvenience that a separate exhaust pipe component has to be manufactured to change a height, since the height can not be adjusted in a structure having an exhaust pipe fixed to a muffler. SOLUTION: In an industrial vehicle such as a forklift and the like, this height adjusting type updraft muffler has a feature that an adjusting exhaust pipe 3 enabling upward and downward height adjustment is fitted to the exhaust outlet pipe 2 of an updraft muffler 1 and is fixed by fastening a slit 4 provided on the exhaust outlet pipe 2 by a fixing band, it is fixed by a fixing nut 7 by putting a screw 6 on the adjusting exhaust pipe 3, or it is structured so as to automatically adjust its height by a hydraulic cylinder 9.
