PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce thrust fluctuations caused by a large difference in the thrust generated at a linear part and an arc part, when thrust is moved from a linear part to an arc part and vice versa. SOLUTION: This linear actuator is provided with a yoke 1, permanent magnets 2, 2' at the arc part and the linear part polarized in such a direction as illustrated, and an armature coil 3. The magnetic flux form the permanent magnets 2, 2' is interlinked with the armature coil 3, so that a prescribed current is made flow through the armature coil 3, and the thrust is generated in the armature coil 3 and moved by Fleming's left hand rule. A value obtained by multiplying the area of the permanent magnet 2 at the arc part by the residual magnetic flux density is larger than the value obtained by multiplying the area of the permanent magnet 2 at the linear part by the residual magnetic flux density, thus thrust fluctuations at the linear and arc parts can be reduced.
