PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical disk, in which optical disks different in diameter, especially a small-diameter optical disk can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: An optical disk manufacturing method for manufacturing a first optical disk having a first diameter and a second optical disk having a second diameter smaller than the first, comprises a step where a circular replica substrate having the first diameter and a recording area is formed, a step where a reflecting film covering the recording area up to a diameter larger than the second diameter is formed, a step where a protective film is formed covering the reflecting film and a step where the circular replica substrate with formed reflecting and protective films is machined to have the second diameter when a second optical disk is manufactured.
