A decorative fabric comprises a base layer, such as a fibrous web, which may be backed by a woven fabric, and pattern-forming elements, which may be flat or fibrous or a combination thereof, attached to the base layer by parallel lines of stitches. As shown, a blue fibrous base 1 supports a pattern comprising a cottage 3, a fence 4, a tree 5, a path 6 and the sun 7. The cottage comprises a white part 8, a black part 9 and brown parts 10 to 16. Path 6 is grey. Black yarns 17 represent smoke and the fence. The tree comprises a green part 18 and a brown part 19. The sun has a yellow part 21 and yellow yarn rays 22.
