PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network connecting device by which the version of firmware is easily updated by a user. SOLUTION: A web service part 24 instructs download of selected version of firmware to a web client part 25. The web client part 25 downloads the selected version of the firmware by accessing a web server on the Internet by using a stored URL and proxy server information, updates, stores the firmware in a flash ROM 21 and informs the web service part 24 of a fact that update of the version of the firmware is completed. The web service part 24 receives the fact that the update of version of the firmware is completed from the web client part 25, transmits and displays it to a web browser of a client device connected by a LAN.
