PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stream program transmission method and a system unit, that can route a channel providing the least transmission cost, in the case of transmitting a stream program. SOLUTION: The system unit is characterized in the provision of a transmission unit 2, that selects either of two systems of channels and uses the selected channel, a distribution transmitter 4 for each area, a satellite channel 5 having a fixed amount of transmission cost characteristic independently of the geographical distribution of the transmitters 4, a ground channel 5 having a transmission cost characteristic whose cost changes depending on the geographical distribution of the transmitters 4, and a channel selection controller 7 that calculates the lowest transmission cost, when the ground channel 6 is used for a group of the transmitters 4 for the distribution of the streamprogram, compares the least transmission cost with the fixed amount transmission cost in the satellite channel 5 and conducts selection control to select either of the two systems of channels for the transmission unit 2 and the transmitters 4, on the basis of the result of comparison. |
