The method of making a polymerization catalyst according to the parent Specification in which prior to impregnation with a Co salt, the carbon is treated with an ammoniating agent and heat treated, the treatments being effected in any order, and the catalyst is finally activated by heat in an inert atmosphere or vacuo, is modified in that the carbonis treated with H2 or N2 or with a gas mixture containing one or both of these gases. Treatment with an 'ammoniating agent' may be additional to treatment with H2 or N2 at some other process stage. |
