The tool consists of a frame (1) with two main vertical side surfaces (32) and cutting rotors (24, 26). During operation the frame can be anchored in the trench by a series of inflatable chambers (40) on the side surfaces of the frame which can apply a pressure to the side walls of the trench. The inflatable chambers are covered by a layer of a strong and flexible material, e.g. in strips fastened to the frame between the chambers, or a single rigid panel. |
