A printing machine has a series of paper sheet support rods transverse to the direction of paper travel. The rods incorporate belt-operated brakes (4.30) which slow the advancing sheets. The belts are powered by a shaft (4.25) which rests in a bearing block (4.32) which is detachable from the brake. After the block has been detached, the drive belt (4.34) can be exchanged by feeding over the drive shaft.
