The milling roller (6) for a mining recovery unit is stably formed and in the area of larger conveyed material presence has an adequate space between the roller cover and the cutting circle diameter (Ds) for onward conveyance of material. The milling roller cover comprises a central part (15) of a specific diameter (D1) and side parts (16,17) on both sides of a larger diameter (D2). The removed material is conveyed in the direction of rotation of the milling tools (10) arranged spirally on the roller periphery together with guide plates and thence in the direction of the center of the recovery unit. The two milling roller drives (22) are arranged within the side parts (16,17) with their gear outlet in the rotary axis (A) of the milling roller.
