A system for treating an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine wherein said gas contains one or more impurities. The system includes a cleaning tank (1) for receiving the stream of exhaust gas (2) from the exhaust pipe of a vehicle. Tank (1) contains a predetermined volume of a cleaning fluid (3). The system also includes gas dispersion means (4) for dispersing the gas stream throughout the volume of fluid (3).
