<p>Systems and methods for storing audio or video content onto data storage media (14) for limited use are disclosed. A system for limited playback of content from a data storage medium (14) includes a reader (50) that reads an indicator from the data storage medium (14), a processor (60) coupled to the reader (50) that determines from the indicator whether the content can be played, and a playback device (90) coupled to the processor (60) and to the reader (50), that plays the content if the processor (60) determines that the content can be played. To play the content, the reader (50) reads the content from the data storage device (14), and forwards the content to the playback device (90). The processor (60) can decrypt the content before the reader (50) forwards the content to the playback device (90).</p> |
