The engraving method uses an electronic engraving machine, with the surface of the printing cylinder (1) divided axially into at least 2 engraving zones (A,B), engraved via at least 2 respective engraving tools (5A,5B). The boundary line between each 2 adjacent engraving zones is selected so that each printing element (4) is engraved solely by one or other of the engraving tools.
