A conveyer belt (11) transports printed circuit boards (3) to a transfer point (16) where they are surrendered one after the other to an overhead suction conveyer unit (6). The suction conveyer advances each board to a drop-point where the board is (2) released into a holder (14). The zone between and under the suction conveyer take-up point (16) and release point (13) is spanned by a catcher plate (16,18).
