Dosing device has a pump housing (4) having an inlet for the liquid metal for introducing the metal, an opening for receiving a dosing pipe (5) formed as a pipette, and an opening for receiving a gas feed pipe (6). The dosing pipe is closed using a valve (13) located in the pump housing. The valve has a bypass dimensioned so that the metal meniscus slowly sinks to the level of the liquid metal in the vessel after closing the valve and filling the pump housing . Preferred Features: The valve is a ball valve and the bypass is arranged in the seat of the ball valve of close to it. The dosing pipe has a vertical section (7) protruding into the pump housing and a lateral branched section (8).
