ESTABLISHING A PATH IN A THREE STAGE SWITCH

A method of establishing a path from a first-stage switch to a third-stage switch in a three stage switch. The method involves comparing the status of available middle-stage switches in order to establish an available route from the first-stage switch to third-stage switch, the status comparisons being performed in parallel for all of the middle-stage switches in the three-stage switch. The addresses of available middle stage are ordered hierarchically by a logical concentrator.
