<p>A token (400) for an electronic token money transaction system has a monetary value (401) and a unique identification code (405) which is dynamically assignable to it. The invention described above provides a mechanism which allows secure and in one embodiment, completely anonymous, purchase of items over an electronic medium such as the internet. Security is provided by having limited, non-rechargeable monetary values (401) to which identification codes (405) are dynamically assignable. Thus, once the monetary value (401) is expired, the identification code (405) assigned to that value is cancelled and is not able to be used again. The dynamic assignability of the codes also allows features which include the ability to SPLIT, COMBINE and REISSUE electronic cash.</p> |
