Production of an additive-treated filter cable (1) comprises injecting the additive into the cable in portions using a carrier gas fed though a feed pipe (25). An Independent claim is included for apparatus for making the cable using an injection finger (16) fitted into the larger end of an injection funnel (15), an injection head (14) being fitted at the narrower end, through which the cable runs. An injector (20) for additive runs through the funnel and injection head, terminating at the finger.
