A mine conveyer belt (1) system has a number of rollers and drive drums (3) with associated motors. The system has an arrangement to reduce peak loads in the individual belt sections consisting of a bulk minerals quantity sensor and belt speed recorder. The sensor and recorder are linked to a central processing unit which generates an integral command to alter the motor speeds, limiting belt peak loads.
