DEVICE FOR UPGRADING VERSION OF SOFTWARE OF ENGINE CONTROL UNIT

PURPOSE: A software version upgrading device of an engine control unit for a vehicle is provided to reduce the time for upgrading the version of a software embedded in an ECU(Engine Control Unit) of a vehicle by performing upgrading while the ECU is connected with a computer. CONSTITUTION: A software version upgrading device of an engine control unit comprises: a computer(10) transmitting a version-up signal and receiving a response signal of an ECU(Engine Control Unit); a voltage level converting unit(20) outputting the voltage of the version-up signal by converting and applying the response signal voltage level after converting to a specific value; a communication protocol realizing unit(30) applying a batter voltage signal to the ECU via a communication line and transmitting a response signal corresponding to the battery voltage level; and a voltage supply unit(40) applying battery voltage for outputting the battery voltage signal only when driving power is inputted. After receiving the version-up signal of the computer, the communication protocol realizing unit outputs a high response signal of 0V-5V and applies the response signal to the voltage level converting unit. Then, the voltage level converting unit converts the response signal to a response signal of -12V to +12V and transmits the signal to the computer. Therefore, the version of the software is upgraded without separation of a memory of the ECU. Moreover, time for version upgrading is reduced.
