The adjusting device has a tractive element formed as a threaded spindle (4) connectable to the cable (2) and tensioned relative to a housing (3) through pretensioning a spring (12) formed as a constant force spring which engages on the spindle nut (10) and on a supply roll (15) having a rotary axis parallel to the spindle nut. When the hand brake is engaged so the tractive element is held relative to the housing through suitable means. The spindle nut and/or supply roll can be enclosed by several windings of the constant force spring.
