The invention concerns a confidential code input apparatus for a smart card equipped with a code cache. Said apparatus comprises a flat housing (1) including at least: a digital keyboard (4) positioned on the housing, so as to input the confidential code of a smart card, a code cache (3) articulated along on degree of freedom in rotation about a fixed axis on the housing; a smart card reader (5) located in the code cache. The invention is applicable in particular to appliances exhibiting thickness constraint.
