CATALYST FOR VINYL COMPOUND POLYMERIZATION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING VINYL POLYMER

A catalyst for vinyl compound polymerization and a catalyst for alpha -olefin production. The catalyst for vinyl compound polymerization comprises (A) a complex of a transition metal in Groups 4 to 10 of the Periodic Table, (B) a clay, clay mineral, or ion-exchanging compound, and (C) at least one of aluminumoxy compounds represented by the following general formula (I) (wherein x is an integer of 2 or larger). The catalyst for alpha -olefin production comprises (A') a complex of a transition metal in Groups 8 to 10 of the Periodic Table, (B') a lamellar clay, clay mineral, or ion-exchanging compound modified with an organic compound, and (C') at least one of aluminumoxy compounds represented by the following general formula (I) (wherein x is an integer of 2 to 4). (R's each independently represents a C1-10 hydrocarbon group, provided that at least one of the R's is a hydrocarbon group having 2 or more carbon atoms).
