Well control, suitable for subaqueous wells, comprises a casing head 34 mounted on casing 30, a hanger 32 in the bowl 33 of the head and supporting casing 31, a hanger 60 in the bowl above the hanger 32 and supporting tubing 64, ducts 46 in the hanger 32, a passageway 54 in the head, and a valve 56 connected to the passage way and controlling flow from the annulus between the tubing and the casing 31. The flow from the tubing is controlled by a valve 71 and the flow from the annulus between the casings by a valve 59. In a modification, (Fig. 8, not shown) additional outlets from the tubing are controlled by valves 81 or may blacked by plugs engaging threads 84. The hangers have threads 44, 65 for engagement with threads on lifting pipes and the hanger 60 has threads 61A for the fitting of a plug. To prevent damage to the apparatus, during installation of the casing, a protector 88 (Fig. 17, not shown), is seated on the hanger 32 by a retriever 91 which is reversed on a pipe for removal of the protector. To prevent damage during drilling a protector extending over the greater part of the depth of the bowl is used. |
