PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and easily produce a nitro compound under a milder condition. SOLUTION: An organic substrate is reacted with nitric acid, nitrous acid or one of their salts in the presence of an imide compound expressed by formula (1) [wherein R1 and R2 are each the same or different and express H, a halogen, an alkyl, an aryl, a cycloalkyl, OH, an alkoxy, COOH, an alkoxycarbonyl or an acyl and R1 and R2 may form a double bond, an aromatic or nonaromatic ring by mutually bonding; X expresses O or OH. In the double bond, aromatic or nonaromatic ring formed by mutual bonding of the aforesaid R1 and R2, further 1 or 2 imide groups expressed by formula (1) may be formed.] to produce the corresponding nitro compound. |
