CATALYST FOR CLEANING EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas which can surely prevent the deterioration of durability due to the occurrence of cracks by securing an enough NOx occlusion capacity by setting an optimum amount of potassium to be added to a catalyst layer. SOLUTION: In the catalyst which includes a cordierite carrier 1 and a catalyst layer 2 and in which at least potassium is added to the catalyst layer 2 as an occluding agent, the amount of potassium to be added to the catalyst layer 2 is set up in a range from 8.5 g/L which is a lower limit to satisfy the demand of the NOx occlusion capacity up to 20 g/L which is an upper limit to prevent damage exceeding an allowable limit.
