PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double bearing type fishing reel having a backlash preventing mechanism capable of setting the optimum spool rotative speed control depending on the condition of a fishing place and the demand of a user. SOLUTION: This double bearing type fishing reel is movable in the direction of a spool shaft depending on increase and decrease of the rotative speed of a spool 6a and is equipped with a spool rotative speed control means 45 for controlling the rotative speed of the spool 6a by increasing and decreasing a magnetic force caused by the action of a magnet 42 on an electric conductor 41. The rotative speed control means 45 is selectively changeable from a movable state to an unmovable state in the axial direction of the spool by a change mechanism 60.
