PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for producing hydrogen by partial oxidation reaction of methanol and a method therefor. SOLUTION: The method for preparing a CuZnAl oxide catalyst, is characterized in that CuZnAl oxide is obtained by thermally decomposing in an air atmosphere a catalyst precursor comprising a CuZnAl layered double complex hydroxide prepared by aging, filtering, washing and drying a precipitate formed by coprecipitation of the reaction product of the mixture of the respective nitrate aqueous solutions of Cu, Zn and Al with a NaOH aqueous solution and a NaCO3 aqueous solution, the CuZnAl catalyst is prepared by the above method, and a method for producing hydrogen gas, is characterized in that methanol is converted to hydrogen gas by partial oxidation reaction in the presence of air by using this catalyst. |
